Money In The Bank

Working in a music shop gives me a good insight in to the current music in the charts, new music to be released and new bands coming out, and to tell the truth watching this unfold every week makes me feel SICK.
The charts are just full off overnight sensations, one hit wonders, reality TV bands and singers and so on. Whats happened to all the good music ?? it is there you just have to look 100 times harder for it amongst all the shit out there! for instance iv noticed any new pop record to be released gets "100" copy's of an album in compared to like "10" copy's of a new established artist.

Now this may sound like me slagging of new music or not being a fan of pop stars, but i am, and it doesn't come down to that. Since the introduction of reality TV shows such as the X-FACTOR, BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT, POP IDOL, FAME ACADEMY etc, we have become blind to the fact that these artist are pushed down our throat's every year! The nation seem's to watch these shows religiously every week, vote for there artist until the winner emerges with a glossy new contract to one of Simon Cowell's or Louis Walsh's record company's, or who ever the record company's are know who are throwing their money at these people.
But after all this we don't get their album no we get all the media hype, the number one singles ( and purely because this is the only single realised that week, have you noticed that ??,  to the surprise of the radio DJ...oh and at number one this week it's so an so with so and so etc etc) plus their life story and autobiography and their road to fame....um what ?? these artist don't even have a history yet or a record out, what are we reading about ?? you'v literally just watched them on TV for months you literally allready know all you need to know about them!.
Then after all this and the shitty merchandise.... Finally their album gets a release  date oh and guess what its a Christmas release date nearly every time, what a surprise! you starting to see a pattern yet ??. So by no surprise their album hits the number one spot, well big congratulations! (sarcasm), but this is were it gets me..we have a single and album and all the rest of the shit that goes along with it, but where has the artist gone ??.
And this is what makes me laugh every time, they have  had their  15 minutes of fame and they disappear just in time for the next new fresh act to be crowned the next pop idol and so the whole process starts again. So how about instead of you all throwing your money at Mr Cowell or Mr Walsh or which ever record company it happens to be, you support artist who actually need supporting, those bands that actually work the club and pub scene and spend all year travelling around doing different gigs to get their name and status out their, just like it use to be done in the old days.
These are the bands who are going to appreciate it and continue to bless us with new albums, because these are the bands who appreciate how hard they have had to work to make it, how much of your hard earned cash you have paid out to see them live or buy their merchandise or buy their music...
To Be Continued.
