 NIGHTWISH, Nightwish are a Finish Symphonic Metal Band originating from Kitee in Final formed in 1996 by,

Key song writer and Keyboardist Tuomes Holopainen, 

Guitarist Emppu Vuorien, 

former Bassist Sami Vanska and

Former Vocalist Tarjia Turunem before being sacked in 2005 and being replace by 

Former Alyson Avenue Vocalist Anette Olzon and 

New Bassist Marco Hietala.

Nightwish rose to fame in their homeland in  1997 from their fist single THE CARPENTER from their debut album ANGELS FALL FIRST.

Before gaining worldwide fame with their second offering in the form of album number two OCEANBORN in 1998, featuring the songs SACRAMENT OF WILDERNESS, PASSION AND THE OPERA, WALKING IN THE AIR and SLEEPING SUN, this album went on to be double platinum.
In 2000 came WISHMASTER and it debuted at number one on the Finnish charts, selling over 77,000 copies and again going double platinum. The album featured the singles THE KINSLAYER, DEEP SILENT COMPLETE, FANTASMIC and SLEEPWALKER.
Album number four was released in 2002 tilled CENTURY CHILD, again this reached the top of the Finnish charts and this time it went three times platinum, containing the singles BLESS THE CHILD, END OF ALL HOPE, EVER DREAM, THE PHANTMON OF THE OPERA and BEAUTY OF THE BEAST.
Nightwish's fifth album was released in 2004 and was the last to have Tarjia as the Vocalist, this album was ONCE and again the Nightwish magic worked as it peaked once again at number one, as well as number one in seven different country's. This is Nigthwish's fourth album to go triple platinum, singles to come off the album included NEMO, WISH I HAD AN ANGEL, and THE SIREN.
DARK PASSION PLAY was album number six and the first record to have Anette Olzon as Vocalist, and once again the album went straight in at number ....you guessed it number one! It also hit the number one spot in another four different country's and Nightwish's first  album to go four times platinum! Singles lifted were  EVA, AMARANTH, BYE BYE BEAUTIFUL and THE ISLANDER.
The latest album is IMAGINAERUM released in 2011, again this followed it's predecessors straight in to the number one spot, and once again going three times platinum! The biggest and most captivating single to be taken from the album is STORYTIME, THE CROW, THE OWL AND THE DOVE and LAST RIDE OF THE DAY.
NIGHTWISH are Finland's third biggest selling band with sales over 900,000+ and the most successful Finnish band abroad with sales of over 8 million+.
