Vocalist Jack Black,
Lead Guitarist Kyle Glass- are the two primary members of the band which is completed by session musicians including Guitarist JOHN KONESKY,
Bassist JOHN SPIKER and
Drummer BROOKS WACKEMAN (Bad Religion).
In 2001 Tenacious D released their debut album tilted TENACIOUS D, unfortunately it failed to have any strong impact with in the charts and its highest peak came in the Australian album charts at number 13. It did make an impact with its lead singles being WONDERBOY, FUCK HER GENTLY and TRIBUTE which featured a nice little cameo appearance by DAVE GROHL playing the devil.
Come 2006 Tenacious D released album number two in the form of THE PICK OF DESTINY and debuted at number 8 on the billboards top 200, the album was also the soundtrack to their film with the same name. CLASSICO, POD and THE METAL which was performed on Saturday Night Live, were the singles taken from this offering, the album also features appearances from MEAT LOAF, DIO and DAVE GROHL.
RIZE OF THE FENIX is album number three released in 2012 and is the bands first album in six years, coming after Jack Black confirming he wanted to take a year long break from his film roles, although Kyle Glass expressed an interest in ending Tenacious D on a high note......
Tenacious D have often been referred to as Mock-Rock and sounding like a Rock Opera, because of their numerous references to sex, cannabis and friendship, Jack Black is never funnier than when he is behind the microphone, so with this being their first Download appearance expect high energy and a set full of laughs!
