So after a month since DOWN10AD 2012 took place, I finally get to write my review, I would have like to write it earlier but we have had a lot going on.
Before I fully get in to my review, let me just set the scene a little, days before we left for Donnington I was regularly checking the weather reports on the Down10ad home page so fare ...not looking good-constant rain! So Wednesday arrives, the day we leave, we get to Norwich station and instantly we are greeted by crowds of people we instantly know are DOWN10AD bound, tents, sleeping bags, and enough alcohol to comatose you lol.
So our bus arrives and off we go, now the ride its self well lets just my 80 year old nan could of done a better job! our bus driver had no clue apparently were he was going, as he kept asking the people at the front of the bus were to go!, and still he took the long route, all back roads... um not heard of motorways ?? no OK!.
So not only does it look like were dealing with a retarded bus driver, we have the great pleasure of dealing with a guy behind us that just wont shut up!, even the person sitting next to him, his friends cant even be bothered to speak or listen to him, as they slowly drift off to sleep. Looks like its going to be one of those journeys, so Laura buries her head in a book and I put my iPod on, this may seem antisocial, but it works for us.
As we start to see the sight of Donnington there is a massive cheer that comes from every one on the bus, the only down point to this.. the ominous DARK rain clouds looming over head, and man do they look ANGRY!. So as we pull in to the car park and prepare to step off the bus what happens..yes you guessed it fucking pisses it down.
So basically from the moment we arrive to the opening hour of the event (or so we thought) it basically turned out to be a complete MUD BATH. That's just me trying to paint a picture of what we were greeted with the day of arrival, for those of you who went or watched the news reports, you will know what I mean.
This year there was a lot of heavy bands that I particularly wanted to see, but seeing as this was Laura's first year I wanted her to enjoy it properly, so I didn't want to drop her in it at the deep end.
And as I knew she was really only going for me, and there was only really two bands she would realistically enjoy, SLASH and may be COREY TAYLOR, so I had to plan this write. I really wanted to show her an amazing weekend and make sure she had an awesome time, and to haver her have a glimpse in to my world and why it meant so much to me.
And unfortunately the weather had already put a spanner in to the works, constant rain, heavy mud, cold, and our tent was already dirty and this was only day one! Not an ideal way to start of our little holiday.
To be Continued
ENIGMA.

.....you've left me hanging....I want to know what happened...and just how dirty the weekend was ;-)
ReplyDeleteHahaha pretty accurate description of Download this year, hope you weren't in red or black camp, flooded tents just don't appeal to me :/
